The man. The myth. The legend.

Considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time – and we dare you to refute that – let’s take a look back at our number one hat wearer and all round guitar God.

Since birth, Slash was destined for great things. Born in London, his mother Ola Hudson was a costume designer who designed clothes for the one and only David Bowie. His father, Anthony Hudson, was an artist who created album covers for the likes of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. Talk about a rock and roll pedigree.

With music and creativity in his blood, he was bound to go far. But where on earth did the name Slash come from? Family friend Seymour Cassel actually, because he was “always in a hurry, zipping around from one thing to another.” That settles that then.

The rest, as they say, is history. With a rock and roll CV spanning almost four decades, playing with some of the world’s greatest musicians both past and present…excuse us for waxing lyrical about the man, but can you blame us? Velvet Revolver, Slash’s Snakepit, and a little band called Guns N’ Roses, we could be here all day listing this mans accolades. With a fit-to-burst back catalogue behind him, the man himself is currently embarking on a solo career. His third album World On Fire is due out in September this year, and he’s currently on the road with Aerosmith.

World On Fire is out in September.
